About Us
Your Winston Salem NC Plumbing Experts for 60+ Years
Pendergrass & Holder Plumbing is a company that goes back over 60 years. The company first emerged in 1959 as Holder Plumbing — a small plumbing contracting business that focused mainly on residential new construction and repair. In 1998 Mr. Holder sold his business to Tony Billings, and the company began operating as Billings & Holder Plumbing.
In 1999, the company was purchased by Butch Pendergrass. Butch has been in the industry since 1979 and had operated as Pendergrass Plumbing since 1984. The business name was changed to its current name, Pendergrass & Holder Plumbing.
At that time, the company ran 4 trucks, 1 skid steer, and employed 7. Today, Butch, along with VP Chris Hicks, CFO Andy Benfield, and PM Corey Pendergrass, manage 2 service/repair trucks, 10 construction trucks, several pieces of heavy equipment, and a few dozen employees.
We proudly employ licensed plumbing professionals with broad and deep experience. We also have certified Backflow testers on staff as well as certified AET Solar Thermal Systems installers.

“Thank you for a great experience that is hard to find with most contractors' “customer service “! Not to mention how quick that got us on the schedule.”

50 Years and Still Growing
Pendergrass & Holder Plumbing was not an overnight success. Like any business attempting to grow and succeed, there have been highs and lows. "Every contractor has had difficult times," remarked Butch. "We are in an industry full of kind and supportive people. And without a couple of those people, and the Lord's blessing, we would not be where we are today."
Pendergrass & Holder Plumbing is active in the industry as well as the community. We are members of the Winston-Salem Mechanical Contractors Association and the Home Builders Association of Winston-Salem. We also sponsor the Mount Tabor High School Wrestling Team.
Butch is the owner of the company and holds a Master Plumbers License in the state of North Carolina. He has 36 years experience in the plumbing trade.
Butch and his wife of 40 years, Jennifer, have raised three children — Lena, Corey and Theo.
